Mike first joined us on in Burundi and has traveled with us to Austria and Peru. Now married to Kelly (Lotz) they are now in a rural village in Uganda. Mike will be coaching a men’s soccer team, and one of his goals is to also start a soccer academy for the youth/orphans there. He firmly believes in the importance and structure that youth sport offers, in building character and providing a positive environment outside of school. Josh and Amy Westermann
Josh and Amy Westermann met on the mission’s field in Nairobi, Kenya and have been married for 9 years. They have two children, Avery Faith (5) and Hudson Joshua (2). From being a top player with the Cascade Surge team to traveling with Surge International to Indonesia and Burundi, Josh brings a wealth of soccer ministry experience back to the Northwest. Simon Wieschemann
Simon, originally from Germany, came in touch with SURGE for the first time in Austria. As part of SRS, a German sports missionary organization, he helped to run refugee / kids soccer camps. He then went on to play College soccer at Mid-America Christian University in Oklahoma City. Early on there, Simon became a captain and discovered his passion to use a leadership position to influence other people’s lives positively.
