Surge Soccer Leadership Academy At the request of a church planting family we are assisting efforts to use soccer to build friendly relationships in Mongolia.  Dugeree shares an amazing testimony of how he was rescued from alcoholism, trained and then challenged to plant churches in his home country.  His passion to help young people led him to find an alternative from alcohol to sport activities.  Due to his loss of limb from an industrial accident, he decided to kick a soccer ball with kids on the street.  Loving the attention, …

Kosovo

In partnership with church planter and pastor, Mark Yocom, Surge soccer has on-going events to encourage the people of Kosovo. While Mark is a chaplain for NATO forces he also is actively involved in the local community, part of which is reaching out to children through the sport of soccer. Surge staff (and friends) visit Kosovo regularly and actively build relationships with boys and girls in the process. Surge News Feb 2012

Surge News Feb 2012 Allen Lotz, our Senior VP, just returned from from the jungles of Peru. He was part of a seven person group that traveled 10 hours by plane, 10 hours by bus, 10 hours by truck, then throw in a canoe ride! The purpose was to help provide medical care, minor construction and begin to explore the idea of using soccer for leadership training, similar to our project in Mongolia.

Mike and Kelly Tobie

Mike first joined us on in Burundi and has traveled with us to Austria and Peru. Now married to Kelly (Lotz) they are now in a rural village in Uganda. Mike will be coaching a men’s soccer team, and one of his goals is to also start a soccer academy for the youth/orphans there. He firmly believes in the importance and structure that youth sport offers, in building character and providing a positive environment outside of school.
