Likius Hafeni receives his Master of Divinity from Corban University

We are pleased to announce that Likius Hafeni, long time Surge Ambassador and current Surge International Board Member, received his Master of Divinity from Corban University (Salem, Oregon) this past Saturday.
Hafeni, who had already earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science from Corban first came to Salem in 2009 to play for the Surge’s Cascade Surge team.

But his story is not quite that simple. Growing up in Mariental, Namibia Likius represented his country at the international level of soccer. Around the same time he pioneered soccer ministry in his country and felt a calling to pursue soccer and education in the United States.

Two times he applied for a Visa to come to the states and was turned down. The third time he applied he was told, “You will never get a Visa”…and “the rest, as they say is history.”

You have probably heard the expression “that there is no ‘I’ in team, so we would like to thank Calvary Chapel (Salem), The Salem Leadership Foundation, Corban University, Cascade Futbol Club, Coerver Coaching Northwest and Northwest Christian Church for the opportunities they have provided Likius to be here in Salem, to study and to excel at coaching soccer and soccer ministry.
