Ecuador, Mexico, Sri Lanka, Liberia: September 2021 Update

[tds_council]“Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”— 14 yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. 15 Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.”[/tds_council]

Dear Friends,

IF the Lord wills the long wait will be over and in November I will head to Ecuador.
ECUADOR – The long wait is almost over. If the Lord wills I will board a plane in Portland, Oregon on November 3rd and fly to Atlanta. My long-time friend and colleague Al Lotz will join me there for the flight to Quito, Ecuador. A three-hour drive will bring us Riobamba, Ecuador. Nestled at just over 9,000 feet, Riobamba is the home to 240,000 people, and home to my former Seahorse colleague Josh (and Adriana) Ayes and their new Cross Creation Sports Academy.

Josh has recently founded CCSA with these goals in mind:

To be a light of hope to the families of Riobamba and the world, offering unique opportunities through sports.

To glorify God by partnering with the families of Riobamba to teach and train their children to become who they were -created to be, using the discipline of sports.

Our goal is to help develop their ministry in the city where Josh’s wife Adriana grew up. Our role will be to train local soccer coaches to be part of Cross Creation and for church outreach to the community.

MEXICO – Government agents came to RSJB Orphanage in Tecate, Mexico and took all the kids away, citing several “code violations.” In a matter of three days we raised enough money to take care of the “problems.” We are awaiting news of the situation.

SRI LANKA – For over two years Emmanual from Sri Lanka has been in touch with us about developing soccer and ministry in his country. Last week Al Lotz and I Zoomed with Emmanual and five other members of Youth for Christ in Sri Lanka. We are now developing a plan that could impact many people in this country.

LIBERIA – My Colleague Dana Taylor who invited me to Liberia has asked me to join him in late January on a trip there. I am working to develop an educational initiative for Liberia to go hand in hand with the soccer ministry.

We so treasure your prayers for each of these situations and the people involved. Your prayers for the Afghan family, the orphans in Mexico, new life changing initiatives in Ecuador, Sri Lanka and Liberia, my health, and finances to continue.

May God richly bless you, Dave
