“OLD TIMERS” CHARITY MATCH RAISES OVER $8,500 AND COUNTING
FOR THE RANCHO SAN JUAN BOSCO ORPHANAGE IN TECATE, MEXICO
Dear Friends,
Twenty-six years ago we were leaving Mexico after our one-day soccer event for the Rancho San Juan Bosco Orphanage; as we crossed the border back into the United States Susie turned to me and said, “We aren’t done here!”
The next week she strapped Nathan into his car seat, loaded up our car with bags of groceries, picked up her parents in Temecula and headed back down to the orphanage – and as they say – the rest is history!
Yesterday, after many delays due to Covid restrictions we played our annual charity match for the orphans with four teams on two fields playing side by side in San Diego. Because we could not play in Mexico we ended up with more teams and players and more donors than ever before.
At this writing we have raised just over $8,500. A new convection oven has been purchased and we are able to send several thousand dollars for food, general supplies, and emergency items for the orphanage.
As we begin new initiatives in Africa and Haiti and recently completed our role in an initiative in China the orphanage is a reminder that when we go forward in faith, not knowing “the end result” and not trying to control it, just going forward in obedience – GOOD THINGS HAPPEN FOR THE KINGDOM!
Isn’t it great how the Lord works! He changed the water into wine, and He turned a one-day event into twenty-six years of service to the most vulnerable.
Serving through soccer, Dave
