Board member Doug visits Kenya

Doug, a new member of the Surge Soccer Board of Directors, just returned from 2 weeks in Nairobi, Kenya. He participated on a trip with ShareWord Global on a team 24 people from across Canada. The bonus of the trip was it included his dad and two brothers. Each day they connected with local pastors and visited with people in the communities. We were able to share God’s Word in the form of the “HOPE” magazine. The magazine includes 2 books of the Bible (Psalms and Book of John) and features beautiful pictures of Kenya.

This led to a number of good questions and discussion with my students. Obviously God was at work convicting hearts of these believers who were raising families under common law marriages. The church …

Mongolia – Surge Soccer Leadership Academy

Surge Soccer Leadership Academy At the request of a church planting family we are assisting efforts to use soccer to build friendly relationships in Mongolia.  Dugeree shares an amazing testimony of how he was rescued from alcoholism, trained and then challenged to plant churches in his home country.  His passion to help young people led him to find an alternative from alcohol to sport activities.  Due to his loss of limb from an industrial accident, he decided to kick a soccer ball with kids on the street.  Loving the attention, …

Surge Launches New K4K Program To Bring Hope To Children!

In partnership with the Aztec Washer company, Surge International has launched a new program for helping kids around the world.  Many of the places we travel have very little soccer gear, equipment and often have no real playing field.  These new “kones” are durably built to hold up under the most rugged circumstances and they are heavier than plastic cones so they don’t get blown away either.  A few “kones” will mark out a playing field, where there isn’t one and create goals where there are none. Add a ball and …

January 2015 Peru Trip

Along with medical clinics the main focus of the week in the jungle was to continue a construction project for the new Bible school for training lay pastors.  Rain, mud, bugs, heat and humidity are good descriptive words for the days of work, but it was well worth the effort as this building is now ready for use.  There are some other projects still planned to be fully functional, like an attached kitchen area but it is great to see the progress.
