Surge Soccer is a member of the Next Generation Alliance, which is a coalition of like minded evangelists serving around the world. It will be interesting to see where the Lord will take this association and what He will do through it!

David Welk

Co-captain of the Surge Over-50 team, Dave now helps organize the Over-50’s special projects. Dave helped pioneer soccer ministry, first as a player at Azusa Pacific University and then as a long-serving board member for Surge International. He has made regular trips to the RSJB orphanage and has traveled on multiple soccer mission trips with the Surge. David currently serves on the Board of Directors as Treasurer.

Hank DeGraan

Hank and his company have been instrumental in providing resources like fresh milk, bread, fruit and vegetables on a weekly basis to the orphanages in Tecate. Hank and his many friends in Mexico and in the USA have also coordinated fund raising events for construction and maintenance of the facilities.

Rev. John Prim

John was born and grew up in San Diego, California. He fell in love with soccer in high school under the influence of his best friend who was from England. John played in high school and later in college for UCSD (72-75). He played on the first Athletes-in-Action soccer team; helped start Sports Life in its infancy and subsequently played on the first Seahorse soccer team for Missionary Athletes International. Rev. John Boyers

Dave Smith

Dave is a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church’s (Santa Ana, CA) Missions Committee and the Missions Care team with his wife Kathy. He is the Maintenance Supervisor at Phoenix House (drug rehab facility). He and his wife Kathy serve refugees in the OC and Dave has served refugees in Austria on a Surge short-term mission trip.

Senior Vice President • B.A. in Liberal Studies & M.S. in Christian Education Allen represents Surge International from Atlanta, Georgia. Allen has been a career missionary in MK education in the context of cross cultural church planting. Dugeree & Bettina Palm

Dugeree met Bettina when she served in Mongolia as a single missionary. Dugeree’s testimony includes how he lost is arm in an industrial accident that was the beginning of desperation causing him to turn to the Lord. Later in an atempt to reach the youth in Mongolia, he took up soccer as a means of outreach.

Misael & Dr. Yolanda Morales

For 25 years this faithful couple has served over 1300 children at the Rancho San Juan Bosco Orphanage in Tecate, Mexico. Yolanda is a medical doctor and serves the community from the orphanage clinic and Miseal is an accountant.
